TUESDAY SHOW RECAP: HOCKEY GUESTS AND GIFTS GALORE!
Tuesday was a real fun day on Episode #232 of The Rod Pedersen Show! Here are the highlights:
- Rod and Dupes opened with The Rollout for Flooring Superstore covering these Quick Six show topics: 1) Clarifying Monday’s poll question of CFL Pay-Per-View (Rod said people went nuts and missed the point of it being a hypothetical question), 2) Jon Ryan’s Portland Pickles ownership group looking to buy the Winterhawks, 3) MLBPA likely to reject the owners proposal of a 50/50 revenue split in 2020, 4) Where will Derrick Moncrief land?, 5) Rod’s list of Top 10 CFL QBs in 2020, and 6) Korean Baseball results!
- Curler Catlin Schneider of Team Flasch dropped by the bunker before the show and gifted the crew with his Team Sask jersey from the Tim Hortons Brier. The guys were floored by such a gesture. Later in the show, RP Show sponsor Deer Valley Golf Course dropped off an avalanche of gear for the boys.
- Famed NHL pest Matthew Barnaby joined the show from Ottawa to talk hockey, tell stories, and promote his new podcast Matthew Barnaby Unfiltered. He talked about the role of the fighter in the rough and tumble 1990s-era NHL, and being fined $60,000 for punching a fan in Florida. Barnie also talked about his run-in with the Chicago Bulls in a Chicago nightclub in the 1990s and having a laxative slipped into his drink.
- TSN Montreal’s John Lu joined the show from his kitchen and viewers noted his hair is now shoulder-length. John reported it’ll be much longer by the time the pandemic is done. John spoke of digging deep for stories at this time, including Chiefs DL Laurent Duvernay-Tardif of Montreal working on the frontlines as a doctor during the COVID-19 scare. John also discussed how much he loves his role as a sideline reporter at Alouettes games, and being in the trenches.
- New Jersey Devils defenceman Damon Severson – a Melville product – joined the show from his off-season home in Kelowna. He discussed staying shape during the break and said NHL officials are very tightlipped about the status of the 2019-20 season. Severson recapped the Devils season so far, and how they’ve under-achieved but the future is bright for the franchise. Rod said Damon is very well-spoken and asked if he’s a popular target of the New Jersey media? Severson answered that there are many brighter stars than him on the roster, and that reporters seek him out only as a last resort.
- TSN Edmonton radio’s Lieutenant Eric (Holt) joined the show to discuss the Edmonton sports scene, the Calgary-Edmonton rivalry and his love for the Roughriders.
