RUSH LAND PRIZED FREE AGENT SORICHETTI
SASKATOON, SK – The Saskatchewan Rush went fishing on the first day of National Lacrosse League free agency and hauled in a familiar face.
Three-time league champion Adrian Sorichetti will rejoin the Rush for the 2020-21 season on a one-year deal (pending league approval) announced by Saskatchewan General Manager/Head Coach Derek Keenan on Saturday.
“The Saskatchewan Rush just got better today with the signing of UFA Adrian Sorichetti,” said Keenan. “The last time Adrian was in a Rush uniform he was hoisting the Champions Cup. We missed him the past two seasons after losing him in the Expansion Draft. We are thrilled to have him back with the Rush.”
Drafted 13th overall in 2013 out of Hofstra University, Sorichetti went on to spend five seasons with the Rush, setting a career-high of 10 goals in 2017 and 15 points in 2018. Over 72 regular-season games with the Rush, Sorichetti notched 30 goals and 23 assists for 53 points plus 270 loose-ball scoops and 74 caused turnovers. The 6-foot, 200-pound transition registered seven points in 17 playoff games with the Rush, including two goals and two assists in 2016 when the Rush collected their second consecutive league title and first in Saskatchewan.
The 29-year-old fan favorite departed the Rush as the sixth overall pick selected by the San Diego Seals in the 2018 Expansion Draft. Sorichetti collected 11 points along with 60 loose-ball scoops and 13 caused turnovers playing in all 18 games in the Seals’ first season. After sitting out last season, Sorichetti’s playing rights were traded two weeks ago by San Diego to the New York Riptide, but the Whitby, Ontario, product opted for free agency.
