WEDNESDAY RUNDOWN: ALAN FORD JOINS!

We had some great chats and more laughs on Wednesday’s Episode #382 of The RP Show – Canada’s Daytime Sports Talk Show! Here’s the rundown:

  • RP and Dupes opened with The Warmup for Four Seasons Sports Palace covering these Quick Six show topics: 1) The WHL suspends its season indefinitely causing devastation in the hockey community, 2) TSN insiders say the NHL is investigating bubbles for 2021 and Darren Dreger says “a lot of things” are holding up a Return To Play announcement, 3) MLB players want to wait for a vaccination shot before starting their 2021 season (RP says ‘good luck’), 4) The Greek Freek signs an NBA supermax deal with the Milwaukee Bucks at 5 years/$228M, 5) Are we going to be looking at a lot of NBA coverage on the RP Show in the New Year?, and 6) NFL News & Notes – They’re looking to lay blame in Dallas and RP said it falls at the feet of the head coach.
  • Team Dunstone second Kirk Muyres joined the show to detail the landscape of the Mens Curling world entering 2021. Kirk discussed the highly-successful Sask Super Series in October (it drew 200,000 viewers online), and what the road may look like to capture the 2021 Sask Mens Tankard. He admitted that no one’s sure yet how it will play out. Regarding a Calgary Bubble for the Brier, Kirk said they’re all eager to represent their provinces but it’ll be tough for some curlers to swing it given work and financial commitments. It was a great chat!
  • The daily Capital Auto Mall/Universal Collision Centre poll question was: Is the Vancouver Canucks logo offensive? Over 95% of respondents said no.
  • Hour 2 was simulcast on Game+ TV and Facebook Live and after re-upping the Quick Six, we were joined by longtime CFL GM and scout Alan Ford. The CFL great and RP did a deep dive on the history of the CFL, the financial peril the Riders found themselves in in the 80’s and 90’s and how it relates to the current dilemma. Ford explained in great detail the current costs of operating a CFL franchise and how the only really chance the league has at playing in 2021 is if vaccinations are widely-distributed. Alan went on to answer several questions from viewers regarding his time with the Riders, how a CFL salary structure should look moving forward, and much more.
