FLAME TECH FOOTBALL FRIDAY RUNDOWN: A BUNCH OF BALLERS!

Fridays are reserved for the gridiron and we tackled the latest in the CFL and NFL on Episode #424 of The RP Show – Canada’s Daytime Sports Talk Show! Here’s the rundown:

  • RP and Dupes kicked it off with The Warmup for Four Seasons Sports Palace covering these Quick Six show topics: 1) Commissioner Randy Ambrosie says, “We’re going to play in 2021.” Yet Friday morning TSN’s Dave Naylor wrote the CFL won’t play in 2021 without fans in attendance, 2) The boys examined the skepticism amongst CFL players around Ambrosie’s comment, 3) More Carson Wentz trade analysis, 4) NHL leftovers from Thursday (RP said Keith Tkachuk wasn’t a spot-picker like Matthew and Brady), 5) The Raptors beat the Bucks 110-96 WITHOUT Kyle Lowry, and 6) The Scotties opens Friday night! Our Scotties coverage is presented by Verge Agriculture.
  • CFL great and CFLPA President Solomon Elimimian joined the show from Vancouver. Regarding his retirement announcement last week, Solly said he’d been contemplating it for awhile and is grateful to go out on his own terms. He explained there’s plenty of work to do as CFLPA President and said there’s plenty of work to be done to get on the field in 2021. His dream linebacker trio (including himself) is also made up of Adam Bighill and Korey Banks. Elimimian reflected on his 10-year CFL career and how the stint with the Hawaii Rainbow Warriors changed his life.
  • Rod was uncustomarily adorned in a CFLPA T-shirt and suitcoat so the Capital Auto Mall/Universal Collision Centre poll question was: What should RP wear to host the show – A suitcoat or bunnyhug? At press time, 70% voted for a bunnyhug.
  • New Toronto Argonauts linebacker Cam Judge joined the show from California and explained his signing this week with the Boatmen. The UCLA product said it’s not true that he wants to play in a large city because, “I’m just here to play football.” A viewer asked Cam if he’d still be a Roughrider if the team was more patient with him in free agency and he said that’s possible. However he feels it doesn’t matter now. Judge revealed that Charleston Hughes heavily influenced him to sign in Toronto. Cam also detailed last week’s workout with the Las Vegas Raiders saying it lasted 20 minutes and he was worked out by the Raiders linebackers coach. He hasn’t closed the door on playing in the NFL one day saying he’s just entering the prime of his career.
  • In Hour 2 we re-upped the Quick Six and then were joined by a huge guest. L.A. Rams defensive back Derrick Moncrief is the first NFL player to ever appear live in the bunker on the RP Show. The Oklahoma State product discussed his road to the NFL from Prattville, AL, recapped his first season with the Rams and debut against the Dolphins in Miami. The interview spanned two segments and Derrick answered several questions from viewers about the Rams defense, Aaron Donald, new QB Matthew Stafford and much, more more. Moncrief also promoted his clothing brand Going The Distance and said you can purchase yours at DerrickMoncrief.com or through his social media platforms.
  • Rod and Darren closed the show with commentary on the mixed messages regarding the CFL’s Return To Play and Rod reiterated that he’d be extremely disappointed in CFL leaders if they can’t find a way to play in 2021.
