TUESDAY RUNDOWN: FLAMES TALK, RATTLERS & MORE!

We kept the hammer down on Tuesday’s Episode #433 of The RP Show – Canada’s Daytime Sports Talkshow! Read on for the rundown:

  • RP and Moose Dupont kicked off with The Warmup for Four Seasons Sports Palace covering these Quick Six show topics: 1) Monday NHL leftovers (the Oilers aren’t in the Leafs class), 2) The Blue Jays tied the Pirates 2-2 in their second spring training game, 3) The Raptors get Rona’ed again, 4) The Dub is cleared to play in BC!, 5) J.J. Watt to the Cardinals, and 6) Bombers Voice Bob Irving calls out TSN for a lack of CFL coverage. (He received support AND criticism!)
  • Flames radio colour man Peter Loubardias joined the show the morning after Calgary got thumped 5-1 in Ottawa, closing a 6-game trip with just two wins. “Lou” took issue with Rod’s preseason prediction of Calgary finishing first in the Scotia North Division saying they aren’t as strong of a team as two seasons ago when they finished first in the NHL’s Western Conference. Pete and Rod had a lively debate over Calgary and Rod said they’re a far better team than their record, to which Loubardias agreed. Lou answered several viewer questions and figures there is a shakeup coming with the Flames. (The rumour in Calgary is that Darryl Sutter will replace head coach Geoff Ward).
  • The daily Capital Auto Mall/Universal Collision Centre poll question was: Who’s the worst team in the North Division – Calgary, Montreal, Ottawa or Vancouver? At press time, the Flames were leading.
  • In Hour 2 we re-upped the Quick Six and continued the back-and-forth with viewers regarding CFL coverage, the lack of Blue Jays preseason broadcasts, and NHL results from Monday night.
  • Saskatchewan Rattlers CEBL V.P. Brad Kraft joined the show from Saskatoon to discuss last week’s 2021 schedule unveiling and plans for the season. He reflected on last summer’s successful CEBL Summer Showcase in St. Catherines, their national TV deal with CBC & CBC Gem, the Rattlers’ season ticket details and more! Kraft explained basketball is the #2 sport in the world and the league is growing rapidly with a great association with the NBA. They’ve trimmed their schedule to 14 games and pushed it back three weeks to accommodate the pandemic.
  • The final two segments were devoted to Viewer Takeover and with Dupes’ plans to potentially brand employees with a custom made DUPONT MEDIA branding iron, viewers volunteered to be the first!
