MONDAY RUNDOWN: COVERING IT ALL!
We were back at it on Monday with Episode #442 of The RP Show – Canada’s Daytime Sports Talkshow! Here’s the rundown:
- RP and Moose Dupont got it going with The Warmup for Four Seasons Sports Palace covering these Quick Six show topics: 1) A wild Brier final Sunday!, 2) Drew Brees retires, 3) Weekend NHL leftovers (RP wonders if it’s Autumn? The Leafs are falling), 4) Bedard & Brayden buzz in the Dub, 5) Raptors are on a losing streak. Is it 4 or 5 in a row?, and 6) CFL/XFL leftovers.
- Andrew “Huster” Paterson from Winnipeg Sports Talk joined the show to discuss all these topics. He’s in favour of a CFL/XFL merger if it’s what saves pro football in Canada. He feels Bomber fans will go to games no matter what league they’re in, but is wary of abolishing the ratio. The Jets took 5/6 points off the Maple Leafs are are in the discussion for the top team in the Scotia North Division. Hustler previewed tonight’s Canadiens/Jets clash in Winnipeg. He also promoted his new Winnipeg Sports Talk YouTube Live show and said it’s a perfect continuation daily from The RP Show for prairie sports fans. They go to air at noon Sask Time.
- The daily Capital Auto Mall/Universal Collision Centre poll question was: Is Drew Brees on the Mount Rushmore (Top 4) of NFL quarterbacks? At press time, 58% of respondents said no.
- In Hour 2 we led off with the Second Half Kickoff and had wild debates over the future of the CFL, Connor Bedard Mania, and the Leafs’ swoon. Rod said if hockey fans say if Rod’s pushing Connor Bedard too much, save it.
- Sportsnet CHL Insider Sam Cosentino joined the show from Toronto and discussed the tremendous start for Connor Bedard and the pressure he faced going into Friday’s debut where he potted two goals. He’s also been closely tracking the Warriors’ Brayden Yager. Sam had a great perspective on broadcasting games for all other CHL exceptional players including Connor McDavid, John Tavares and Aaron Ekblad and the pressure they faced. Regarding a Return To Play for the OHL, Sammy said he’s hearing positive things but said Commissioner David Branch was furious that details leaked and that impeded the process. He also applauded the QMJHL for getting a season in and for the Maritimes governments for working closely with the league.
- RP and Dupes Faced Off on the Mount Rushmore of NFL Quarterbacks. Rod’s are Brady, Aikman, Bradshaw and Montana. Dupes’ are Montana, Peyton Manning, Tom Brady and some other guy. The Face Off is a presentation of UFZ Moose Jaw and The Mad Greek Restaurant.

Wild Brier – if hogwash curling wasn’t irrelevant enough already it’s officials cheat by sand papering the rocks to make them curl more. Never heard of this practice before it happened on Saturday as Brier officials failed to notify all teams they had altered the rocks. What next? remote controlled rocks with a speedometer for a select few? Thought curling was respectable, guess not, they cheat too.
