ELKS QB TREVOR HARRIS DISHES ON THE SEASON, TICATS FANS & MORE

Everyone is excited for the CFL coming back, and on Saturday, training camps will open for CFL teams.

Edmonton Elks quarterback Trevor Harris, for one, is thankful the CFL is back, as he cheerfully explained on Friday’s Rod Pedersen Show: “I’m just thankful to be back in Canada playing some football.”

One of Harris’s main targets Greg Ellingson will also be along for the ride after re-signing in Edmonton this spring, and Harris could not be happier.

“You don’t have to worry about Greg Ellingson going somewhere else,” Harris joked during the interview. “I will always invade and impede and make sure that 82 will stay with me”.

Ellingson was a free agent, and the Elks re-signed him on January 21 to a one-year deal.

In the 2019 CFL season, Trevor Harris was ranked third in passing throwing for 4,027 passing yards and threw the least amount of interceptions with six.

While this is impressive for Harris, he humbly expressed that stats are not of the greatest importance on his mind.

“The numbers that I put up don’t really mean a whole lot to me, and I know people say that it’s cliche, but I honestly don’t really care,” Harris shrugged.

“I want my receivers to have the best years, I want my running backs to have the best years, I want my O-line to feel good about the protection they’re giving.”

The CFL was rocked with the news Thursday that four Saskatchewan Roughriders that include Larry Dean, Jonathan Femi-Cole, Nelson Lokombo and Freddie Bishop, all suffered Achilles tendon injuries.

“Obviously I’m sick to my stomach for people like Larry Dean, one of my great friends in this league,” said Harris.

While answering fans’ questions during the interview, Trevor is happy for trash talking to return with fans as one fan explained that Willie Jefferson will be putting him on his back.”

Harris happily stated, “Hey, that’s music to my ears…. I go from rolling my eyes when people [are] talking crap to me to let’s go, man.”

The people of Saskatchewan amaze Harris with their trash talk and gave more detail about it “they talk to you, but they’re not like they’re not overly aggressively rude …. they flirt with the line really well.”

Meanwhile, Harris said Hamilton Tiger-Cats fans are in a different level of trash talk when it comes to other CFL teams.

Harris explained, “They [Tigercats fans ] get personal” in regards to their trash talk.

While referring to the fans of the CFL, Harris enjoys playing in Saskatchewan beside his home team in Commonwealth in Edmonton, and as for the East, he likes to play in Ottawa.

The first game for Harris and his Edmonton Elks will be on August 7, when they face off against the Ottawa REDBLACKS.

Gotta feel for those Montreal owners, they won’t be long losing so much money. Tis heard the league is still paying the bills until they actually play a game under this group. And then the actuals on the ledger books start to pile up in the negative.
