TUESDAY COMMENTARY – TELL THE WORLD
(Listen daily for the Rod Pedersen Commentary on Cat Country 98 FM & Rock 98.5 FM)
ALARM BELLS SOUNDED ACROSS THE WHEAT PROVINCE AFTER SUNDAY’S ROUGHRIDERS LOSS, 23-8 TO WINNIPEG IN LABOUR DAY CLASSIC 57.
AND FOR GOOD REASON. IT WAS A PRETTY RESOUNDING THRASHING BY THE BLUE BOMBERS IN A GAME THEY WEREN’T SUPPOSED TO WIN.
THE RIDERS LOST THE TURNOVER BATTLE 4-2 AND WERE SOUNDLY BEATEN ALONG THE LINE OF SCRIMMAGE, GIVING UP THREE SACKS AND BEING OUTRUSHED 125 YARDS TO 65.
I’D LOVE TO SEE THE STATS ON QUARTERBACK PRESSURES. CODY FAJARDO WAS RUNNING FOR HIS LIFE ALL NIGHT BUT THEN, NOT SURPRISINGLY, HE TOOK ALL THE BLAME IN THE POSTGAME NEWS CONFERENCE. THAT’S A LEADER.
LATE IN THE GAME, DOWN 15 POINTS, THE RIDERS WERE MOUNTING A COMEBACK BUT FAJARDO HIT THE CROSSBAR AGAIN, JUST LIKE THE LAST PLAY OF THE 2019 WEST FINAL AGAINST THAT SAME TEAM.
THE FOOTBALL GODS STRUCK AGAIN, AND IT’S A CRYING SHAME THAT IT’S CODY WHO’S PAYING FOR IT.
AS FOR THE BOMBERS, WILLIE JEFFERSON SAID THE RIDERS ARE OVERRATED AND IT WAS GREAT SILENCING THE RIDER NATION.
IT’S NOT COCKY IF YOU CAN BACK IT UP, AND THE BOMBERS WENT INTO MOSAIC AND PROVED WHO’S THE BEST TEAM IN THE CFL.
FOR NOW.
FROM A RIDER PERSPECTIVE, ALL CAN BE ATONED FOR WITH A WIN IN SATURDAY’S BANJO BOWL AND THIS LOSS COULD’VE SIMPLY BEEN A MEASURING STICK.
HOWEVER THE BRAVADO OF THE REIGNING GREY CUP CHAMPION BLUE BOMBERS IS 30 YEARS IN THE MAKING, AND I APPLAUD IT.
FORMER WOLF RADIO MAN JEFF ALLEN ONCE TOLD ME IN THE HALLS OF HARVARD BROADCASTING, “WHEN YOU’RE ON TOP, TELL THE WORLD. BECAUSE WHEN YOU’RE ON THE BOTTOM, PEOPLE WILL LINE UP TO KICK YOU IN THE GUT.”
I’VE BEEN BOTH, AND CAN ATTEST THAT IT’S TRUE.
SO CAN THE BOMBERS.
THAT’S TODAY’S ROD PEDERSEN COMMENTARY

Hey Rod, any idea what the heck is with the Elks signing Montcrief?? I thought he was a shoe in to come back to the Riders. Was it money?? Have you heard anything?
The best thing about the journey of life are the highs, lows, and just middle ground calm. What I appreciate about being on top is just watching to seen how people what something from you and having the wisdom to discern it. That only comes when hitting rock bottom, falling through the trap door and then taking one step forward and eight back. The great blessing of being knocked down and out is watching and listening to see how you don’t get any calls. That is the bleach to kill the bacteria when the rebuild/resurrection happens. I’ve never done better… Read more »
