Thursday Commentary: Glad Someone Said It

(Listen daily for the RP Commentary on All New Hits 98 & LTD Radio)
No random thoughts today, but there are two things which caught our eye. Surprisingly, neither have anything to do with hockey.
Got an email from the NFL Wednesday afternoon at 4 pm ET trumpeting “Free Agency is officially open!”
I nearly spit out my coffee. If it just started now, then what the hell has been going on the past three days?
And I’m not the only one who has questions. The pundits from ESPN, NFL Network, NBC Sports Radio and the rest have all said this “legal tampering” and “pre-free agency” period has been incredibly confusing. I watch ’em all.
I’m glad somebody said it!
With the fast-paced sports world of “go, go, go!” you knew somebody was gonna skin their knee and that happened when Baltimore backed out of the weekend’s Maxx Crosby deal, only after the Raiders went out and spent $200M in pre-free agency.
What? I thought it didn’t open till Wednesday?
Oops.
It’s like trying to drive in Harbour Landing. The city planners designed it, and then it’s up to you to figure it out. There’s no going back.
As my Mom said while driving around the Regina subdivision when it was new, “Whoever designed this thing sure never had to drive in it.”
Oh, and in case you missed it, Canada’s gonna meet the USA in a quarterfinal at the World Baseball Classic. We don’t have time to get into it here but suffice it to say it’s the biggest game Baseball Canada has ever played and I’ve done my best to forewarn you about the biggest thing going on in baseball; the sport’s version of soccer’s World Cup or hockey’s Four Nations Faceoff.
It’s the biggest baseball game since … since … Game 7 of last year’s World Series. Don’t be a Johnny Come Lately and miss it altogether.
Y’er welcome.
That’s today’s Rod Pedersen Commentary.
