A coupla three or more thoughts entering the weekend:
#1 – We set a new record this week. By Monday I was ready for the weekend. That’s the fastest ever. No real reason other than I picked up a cold & flu bug in New York and it’s been a drag all week. That, and the goings-on in this crazy world we live in have a guy needing a break on the reg.
#2 – All the rage this morning where I live is that cop bodycam footage of Tiger Woods’ arrest for DUI last week was to Donald Trump. Of course, he’s dating Don Jr’s ex-wife and this morning on sports radio WQAM, they’re asking what might have been said between the two. Again, I’m ready for the weekend.
#3 – The biggest story, in the normal world, is the Wingmen Podcast, hosted by Brady & Matthew Tkachuk which featured an appearance by their father Keith this week. “Walt”, as he’s known, proceeded to rip his son’s teammates and has caused huge problems in Ottawa, and it threatened to do the same in Florida but the Panthers culture is too strong for that.
The second that podcast launched, I knew it would be trouble. But like this website/commentary, nobody else has control over it so we get to sit back and see how it unfolds.
#4 – All is not lost. We saw vintage Sergei Bobrovsky last night in Florida’s 2-1 home win over Boston. After the game Bob told us he’s “Living the dream” as the starting goaltender for the Florida Panthers. It’s just a joy to be around the guy everyday, and his positivity rubs off. At least it does for me anyway.
And #5 – They say if you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say it at all. Imagine where we’d be as a society if people actually adhered to that wise advice! So that’s where I’m at with the woeful attendance at this week’s Regina Pats playoff games (they’re down 3-1 to Medicine Hat in the first round series). Let’s put it this way — I certainly don’t blame the great Queen City sports fans. But the Pat Canadians continue to outdraw the big club and the only reason why is cheaper tickets. The Pats ticket prices are out-of-this-world. Can you believe I could get into a New York Rangers game on Sunday for $67 which is barely more than what the Pats are charging?
But again, it’s not my team. Hasn’t been for a long time.
That’s today’s Rod Pedersen Commentary.

That concept of don’t say anything if nothing good to say is appropriate. There are times to stay aggressively silent. There are times to keep your own counsel. However we live in an era where toss that out the window. Jordan Peterson is clear. “Tell the truth or at least don’t lie”. We do this so when the Nazi show up in 1939 it’s a little to late to admit Anne Frank is hidden in the attic. Perhaps we are in. 1950s Russia. We wonder how we got to the Gulag Archipelago. All this happens one compromise at a time.… Read more »
#2 Tiger Woods can go one of two ways. Even money. This guy needs to be in NA meetings in the sketchy part of Orlando. He needs to shut up and listen. If he does maybe he stays alive long enough when it gets to his turn he can borrow my line. “Well all things considered I am sober just for today and I would rather be at a meeting instead of the back of a cop car wishing I was at one.” ….that’s not happening. This guy needs to confront reality. Reality is Michael Jackson 2.0. He has a… Read more »
