Monday Commentary: Just Getting Started

(Listen daily for the RP Commentary on All New Hits 98 & LTD Radio)
From a CFL perspective, they’ve gotta be happy with the 112th Grey Cup.
Saskatchewan won it on Sunday – ending a 13-season drought – by beating the Montreal Alouettes 25-17 at Princess Auto Stadium in Winnipeg.
And it was a classic.
The Riders had an 18-point lead with a minute to go in the third quarter and the folks I was watching with thought it was curtains.
But the Als scored a touchdown to cut the lead to 11 going into the fourth quarter, and I reminded them of the 2009 Grey Cup when we blew a 16-point lead against Montreal, only to lose.
I assume you watched it. Montreal had the chance to tie this one up late, but back-up quarterback Shea Patterson fumbled the ball at the Rider goalline and the Als came away with no points.
THAT was the TSN Turning Point, and Saskatchewan wound up winning by eight.
Cue the party on Albert Street, and for the next six months.
It was very likely the worst game Montreal played all year, but the Riders don’t need to apologize for that. They were the best team all season, and the best won the biggest game.
Other notes? Halftime act Machine Gun Kelly was pretty good. I’m not gonna run out and buy his records, but I was entertained.
A Canadian act is not needed to perform at the Canadian Football League championship? Apparently not. I’ve put that sword down. Silly me for suggesting it.
Commissioner Stewart Johnston was booed when he was announced at the game’s conclusion, before handing out the Grey Cup to the Riders. That should come as a pretty big wakeup call for the league office.
While the party is on in Saskatchewan, for the Commissioner, it feels like his work is just getting started.
That’s today’s Rod Pedersen Commentary.

My broadcast came from Shaw (Now Rogers) and it cut out probably eight or ten times during the game. I’m just glad it worked fine through the introduction of ‘Traiter’ Johnston so everyone could hear the crowd’s response.
That is utterly ridiculous in this day and age.
I have Telus and the whole screen went black for about 10 seconds probably 10 times as well.
jeremy o’day can now shuffle off back to Buffalo. The real architect of the sask roughriders winning Grey Cup team was Cory Mace. Mr. Mace masterminded and assembled his on field crew with a final result of a secured CFL Championship. It would be nice if Cory Mace were to take on the Roughriders general manager role along with his current duties, after all it was his vision to succeed where others failed.
MGK [Machine Gun Kelly] was an amazing 2025 Grey Cup halftime show, 💯%, great choice Winnipeg Manitoba.,Thank you!
