Wednesday’s show was Episode #18 0f The Rod Pedersen Show! Here are the highlights:

  • Darren Dupont was in Kelowna doing Investor Relations so Derek “Duke” Meyers filled the role of co-host along with Rod. And it didn’t take Duke long to get fired up. On the topic of the heat on the 0-2 Riders, Duke lambasted the fans for playing the “blame game”, and their pointing the finger at punter Jon Ryan since they couldn’t criticize quarterbacks or offensive coordinator Stephen McAdoo.
  • The pair looked at Week 3 in the CFL and surmised that the Riders will beat Toronto on Canada Day at Mosaic Stadium.
  • Jaden Schwartz’s good friend Dustin Halvorson joined the show to outline plans for the Stanley Cup visiting Regina on Saturday, July 6. There will be a public event/viewing on that day at 11:oo am at the Legislature, featuring Premier Scott Moe. The Cup will also be in attendance at that night’s Riders-Stampeders game at Mosaic Stadium.
  • Former Riders DL Marcus “Chunky” Adams joined the show via video conference from Phoenix, AZ where he’s coaching Horizon High School. Chunky was a guest coach with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers this year and said there’s something special brewing with the Bombers. He said there’s an incredibly high amount of trust and belief within Mike O’Shea’s locker room.
  • CTV’s Don Hewitt joined in Hour 2 and the panel discussed all of the day’s topics including the Riders, the 2019 Hockey Hall of Fame Class (including the snub of Theoren Fleury and Paul Henderson) and will the Raptors re-sign Kawhi Leonard? Hewitt said we shouldn’t be surprised by the Riders’ 0-2 start, and that it’s still very early in the season to make assumptions.
  • Regarding Paul Henderson and the 1972 Canada-Russia Summit Series, Hewitt shockingly revealed he was in the arena in Moscow, Russia when Henderson scored the iconic goal. He said he was on a school trip!
