Friday’s show was Episode #30 of The Rod Pedersen Show and could aptly be called the Legends Episode! Here are the highlights:

  • Among Rod and Dupes’ guests on the program were Rider legends Chris Getzlaf and Darian Durant, Hall of Fame broadcaster John Lynch, former Rider DL Ray Jacobs and Pro Snowboarder/Sportscaster Craig McMorris (pictured).
  • The crew opened with the Warmup, discussing the Edmonton Eskimos’ 33-6 pounding of the BC Lions in Vancouver on Thursday Night Football. The guys agreed that it’s now time to panic if you’re the 1-4 Lions.
  • The Capital GMC/Universal Collision Centre daily poll question was: Who’s in more trouble – the 1-4 Lions or the 1-3 Riders? The runaway “winner” of the poll is BC.
  • Getzlaf was in the bunker, while Durant joined by video conference from Toronto. The pair discussed the good ol’ days with the Riders and also discussed the play of first-year Rider QB Cody Fajardo (a 5-year vet). Durant said “I’m happy for him”.
  • Durant recalled his time with the Riders and alluded to some “questionable decisions” towards the end of his career, which he might’ve done differently. Was he referring to the circumstances which led to his trade to Montreal in January of 2017? Only he knows.
  • Ray Jacobs was one of many Calgary Stampeders who fled to Saskatchewan in the early 2000’s (Henry Burris and Eddie Davis are a couple others). The reason, according to Jake, was “because of Roy”. Jacobs only spent the 2001 season with the Roughriders but the stint was memorable. He discussed his comrades on the Riders D-line that year, and they included Scott Schultz, Nate Davis and Sheldon Napastuk. Jake makes his home in Regina, and is doing well in life after football. He found his way to the CFL after a stint with the Denver Broncos.
  • Craig McMorris is internationally renowned, along with his brother Mark, in the snowboarding and Olympic world. They make their home in Whister, BC but are home for the weekend for their Dad’s birthday and to spend some time at their cottage Echo Lake.
  • McMorris answered a ton of questions from the both the panel and the Facebook Live viewers about snowboarding, and broadcasting events in which his brother Mark participates. He said it’s not a problem to remain impartial when Mark is on the hill.
  • Rod also mentioned that he and Dupes will be taking in the CEBL game at SaskTel Centre Friday night featuring the Saskatchewan Rattlers and the Hamilton Honey Badgers. They’ll discuss the evening on Monday’s show.
  • Viewers and listeners are calling it our best show yet! You can go back and watch on our Facebook page or listen to the show by clicking the PODCASTS tab at the top of this page.
