TUESDAY SHOW RECAP
Tuesday was Episode #56 of The Rod Pedersen Show. Here are the highlights!
- Rod and Dupes opened the show with the Warmup. They discussed the day’s hottest sports topics including Bomber QB Matt Nichols going to the 6-game Injured List, how CFL Power Rankings don’t mean anything, and this Thursday’s NFL preseason game between Oakland and Green Bay. The Packers have announced Aaron Rodgers will play, however mercurial Raiders WR Antonio Brown is a question mark.
- Show viewer Troy Kocur won a pair of tickets to the NFL game courtesy of On Ice Events.
- Global Regina’s Taylor Shire joined the bunker for more CFL discussion and said Rider QB Cody Fajardo has only further proven Taylor’s prediction that he’s the next great franchise QB in Riderville. Shire said Fajardo has displayed all the treats of a tremendous leader on and off the field.
- Edmonton Sun writer Gerry Moddejonje joined the show via video chat and agreed the 6-3 Edmonton Eskimos are indeed the surprise story of the CFL season. Gerry said Esks GM Brock Sunderland doesn’t get enough credit for adequately replacing receivers Duke Williams and Brandon Zylstra with the likes of Greg Ellingson and Davaris Daniels.
- The Voice of the Toronto Argonauts Mike Hogan joined the show via video chat to discuss the weekend’s Touchdown Atlantic game between the Argos and Alouettes in Moncton. He said it’s an Argos “home game”, but really is a road contest. He discussed the James Wilder Jr. situation, and how he was a healthy scratch for Toronto’s Week 10 game. Regarding an update on whether Zach Collaros will ever see the field with the Argos, Hogie responded, “I hope so”.
- RP Show West Coast correspondent Travis Lulay joined the show from the BC Lions practice facility in Surrey and said no teams have called him about coming out of retirement, despite the rash of injuries to starting QBs. Lulay said even if they did, his answer would be “no thanks”. Regarding the 1-8 Lions, Lulay said they are “clinging to the last little bit of hope that there is” regarding their season. He also said that the locker room is staying together, despite all the things that have gone wrong this year. Travis also said he’s still deliberating his future in the game, and is enjoying his first season out of what he called the “tornado which is football operations”.
- In honour of show #56, the guys recognized sports figures who’ve worn #56 in their careers. The group included Daved Benefield, Solomon Elimimian, Lawrence Taylor, Kailer Yamamoto, Sergei Zubov, Mark Buehrle and Magnus Paajarvi.

Start the discussion;
There’s “a Sprinkle of Chris Jones” all across the CFL.
How would Travis know how the locker room is from his office in corporate partnerships? LOL!
The Lions didn’t hire him to simply keep him around and off the books as a coach under the football operation cap did they?
