MONDAY SHOW RECAP: ANNOUNCING GREAT WESTERN PARTNERSHIP!

Monday was Episode #74 of The Rod Pedersen Show. Here are the highlights:

  • With Dupes away, Rod was joined in the bunker by Producer Clark for The Warmup. They discussed Week 14 in the CFL including the Riders’ 27-25 win over Montreal, the Huskies’ Wheat Bowl win over the Rams, Rod’s call of the Broncos/Hounds in the SJHL on Sunday, and they waded into the A&W Beyond Meat Burger controversy.
  • To summarize the A&W thing, Rod said he’s “Pro Choice” in life and said what you do with your body is nobody else’s business. He’s the son of a cattleman, and eats meat everyday however he respects peoples’ right to be a vegetarian or vegan. He also said that the Roughriders were used as a marketing vehicle by A&W to promote their meat-less burger, but that is also their right. That’s how sponsorship deals work. In the end, it’s up to each individual whether they want to support A&W or the Roughriders. Life is about choices.
  • Great Western Brewery Director of Sales Scott Henbury joined the bunker to announce the major, multi-year sponsorship agreement between G.W. and The Rod Pedersen Show. Scott feels they are “Saskatchewan’s brewery” and it’s an ideal fit with The Rod Pedersen Show. Watch for their involvement in upcoming RP Show events.
  • Riders/Bombers/Renegades alum Mike Abou-Mechrek joined the bunker to discuss the notion that the Riders are getting “lucky” with their 8-4 record, and disspelled that theory. They also predicted where they think the Riders will finish when all is said and done. Rod predicted 2nd-place, depending on who they beat down the stretch.
  • With the list of blown calls in the NFL on Sunday, the daily Capital Auto Mall/Universal Collision Centre poll question was: Which team has the worst officiating? CFL, MLB, NFL or NHL? At press time, the CFL was narrowly leading ahead of the NFL. Rod reminded viewers about last year’s Stanley Cup Playoffs, and says fans have short memories.
  • Former Rider, Viking and Texans LB Brian Peters joined the show from Minnesota via video chat. He said he is currently seeking another NFL opportunity, however he said he’d be open to a return to the CFL. However it would only be with the Roughriders. He also talked about his 3 seasons in Saskatchewan (2012-2014).
  • Former Denver Bronco/Stampeder/Roughrider Ray Jacobs joined the bunker to discuss Week 2 in the NFL. He also had a very worthwhile rant about the differences between the NFL and CFL. He said for NFL players, they play every snap like it’s their last while some CFL players get complacent knowing they’re not as easy to replace.
  • RP Show NFL Insider Tori Gurley joined the show from Toronto for a further look at Week 2 in the NFL. He also answered viewers’ questions about who they can replace Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger with on their Fantasy teams.
  • In honour of show #74, the guys discussed players who’ve worn #74 in their careers in the list includes Dan Rashovich, T.J. Oshie, Chris Defrance, Ken Moore, Troy Westwood, Alexei Emelin and Jake Debrusk.
