We opened a brand new week on Episode #332 of The RP Show – Canada’s Daytime Sports Talk Show! Here’s the rundown:

  • RP and Dupes got it going with The Warmup covering these Quick Six show topics: 1) Alex Singleton’s Pick 6 won the game for the Eagles at 49ers on Sunday Night Football, 2) Tom Brady fires 5 touchdown passes in the Buccaneers’ comeback win over the Chargers, 3) The Cowboys have another defensive meltdown in a 49-38 loss to the Browns, 4) Blue Jays TV ratings are up 23% from 2019, 5) CFL Notes: Alouettes owner Gary Stern’s comments on the CFL letting their fans down and Cody Fajardo saying he wouldn’t play for Chris Jones, and 6) Hockey Notes: The NHL Draft runs Tuesday/Wednesday and junior hockey Return To Play.
  • RP dropped the news that the wildly-popular CFL SIM (Esports League) has made the decision to go to a Top 6 playoff format rather than the traditional East-West scenario. Based on the league’s standings, if the playoffs started today, Calgary (1) and Saskatchewan (2) would get a first round bye and the first round match-ups would be Toronto (3) versus Ottawa (6) and BC (4) versus Edmonton (5). The decision was made by virtual Commissioner Andy Rambrosie!
  • CFL great C.J. Gable joined the show from Southern California and said he hasn’t made a decision yet on retiring but it’s on his mind. After two seasons in the NFL and seven in the CFL, the 2-time All Star running back said he doesn’t have much left to prove in the game but will make a decision in 2021 depending on how he feels at the time. Gable answered viewer questions and said Ticats fans are more rabid than Eskimo fans, but for different reasons. If Gable decides to retire, he’s already been offered a coaching position in California.
  • The daily Capital Auto Mall/Universal Collision Centre poll question was: Who is the NFL’s best 4-0 team – the Bills or Seahawks? At press time over 60% of respondents voted for Seattle. The panel said that stat could change tonight due to the pair of Monday Night Football games: New England versus Kansas City and Atlanta versus Green Bay. The Chiefs and Packers are 3-0.
  • Hour 2 was broadcast on Facebook Live only and RP Show hockey insider Jared Dumba joined the bunker to preview the NHL Draft and talk about junior hockey’s Return To Play. He feels the QMJHL is able to play because they don’t have American teams however the OHL and WHL don’t have that luxury at the moment.
  • Regina Pats great and former Vancouver Canucks first rounder Josh Holden joined the show from Switzerland for a very entertaining chat. He talked about his NHL career and the decision to continue his career in Europe (the 2004 NHL lockout was the major deciding factor). Viewers were gripped by Holden telling the story of the horrific injury he suffered in the 1998 WHL playoffs when all tendons in his left wrist were severed by a skate blade. He said he’s never opened up about it before, but said he only returned to 40% effectiveness in that hand and it affected his pro career mightily. The Calgary product also talked about his lavish 40th birthday party and thanked RP and former Canucks coach Marc Crawford for sending him letters to mark the occasion.
