FLAME TECH FOOTBALL FRIDAY RUNDOWN – JEFF REINEBOLD JOINS!
Fridays are reserved for the gridiron and we tackled all the topics on Episode #406 of The RP Show – Canada’s Daytime Sports Talk Show! Here’s the rundown:
- Rod and Dupes opened with The Warmup for Four Seasons Sports Palace covering these Quick Six show topics: 1) NFC/AFC championship game notes, 2) The poll question was – Which teams will make it to the Super Bowl? At press time, Packers/Bills were leading, 3) Thursday NHL leftovers (the Jets and Canadiens look good), 4) There are eight NHL games on tap Friday and we’re focusing on Oilers/Leafs and Golden Knights/Coyotes, 5) Sid is leaving Tim & Sid. What’s next?, and 6) The NFL head coaching hirings are being criticized for not enough minorities. John Frenzy joined in Segment 2 and broke down all the hirings.
- RP Show NFL Insider Tori Gurley joined the show to preview NFL Conference Championship weekend. He feels if Patrick Mahomes is knocked out of the AFC title game, the Bills will advance. As a Packers alum, Tori’s going with Green Bay to dash Tampa’s hopes of playing in the Super Bowl in their home stadium. He also discussed QB Deshaun Watson wanting out of Houston and that he could be a tantalizing fit for Jacksonville who would have to trade the #1 pick in this spring’s NFL Draft.
- Hour 2 was simulcast on Game+ TV and Facebook Live and after re-upping the Quick Six, we were scheduled to be joined by Hamilton Tiger-Cats Special Teams Coordinator Jeff Reinebold from London, England where he hosts Sky Sports NFL coverage. Connection issues caused Rod and Frenzy to fill time by discussing the CFL’s Return To Play. Rod’s convinced the league will play in 2021 but was confused by Bomber President Wade Miller’s comments that they expect to play in front of live fans. The host said Miller is the CFL President he respects the most, but this is a mixed single given what we know about the pandemic in Canada.
- Reinebold appeared in Segment 3 and covered a lot of topics, as well as answered questions from viewers. He went deep on the Tampa/Green Bay match-up and feels if special teams decide the outcome, the Buccaneers will be sunk because they’re “just average”. Reinebold’s been in the CFL since 1991 and although he’s coached in NCAA and NFL Europe, he explained he prefers the CFL due to its unique special teams rules. He was asked for his best memory of coaching with the CFL’s Las Vegas Posse and he told tales of working with famed Posse coach Ron Meyer who famously missed practice occasionally if he got on “a heater” at the craps table! Reinebold also promoted his popular Coffee With The Coach show where he converses with fans on the digital program. Follow Jeff’s social media platforms for details.
