We had a whole lotta shakin’ going on on Episode #370 of The RP Show – Canada’s Daytime Sports Talk Show – on Monday! Here’s the rundown:

  • Rod and Dupes got it going with The Warmup for Four Seasons Sports Palace covering these Quick Six show topics: 1) Week 12 NFL Notes including Brady/Mahomes, Tony Romo, and the Titans & Falcons win!, 2) Denver Broncos face a stiff penalty for QBs not wearing masks (They had to play!), 3) CFL Notes: The Draft lottery is criticized, and a Grey Cup Unite survey, 4) Pro Lacrosse News pegs Las Vegas, Montreal and Nashville as expansion spots, 5) The Tyson/Jones Jr. fight, and 6) The NHL and WJHC are awfully quiet. Is that good or bad?
  • Edmonton sports media icons Bryn Griffiths and Robin Brownlee from The Outsiders Podcast joined the show for a 3-way call, covering all kinds of topics. Brownlee covered pro boxing for years and said he’s seen far more egregious decisions than the draw in the Tyson/Jones Jr. fight. Bryn didn’t watch it all. The pair fears for this year’s WJHC in Edmonton due to Alberta Covid cases, and they’re also skeptical of an NHL start date. Brownlee thinks they’ll start in February, if at all.
  • The daily Capital Auto Mall/Universal Collision Centre poll question was: Who had the best Week 12 NFL performance – Aaron Rodgers, Tyreek Hill, Derrick Henry or Other? At press time, the Chiefs’ Tyreek Hill was leading.
  • Hour 2 was simulcast on Game+ TV and Facebook Live and after re-upping the Quick Six, we were joined by CHCH-TV Hamilton’s Bubba O’Neil. Bubba started covering Tyson’s fights in New York State back in the 1990s and said the Baddest Man On The Planet brought back what it means to be a true heavyweight in the boxing arena. He enjoyed Saturday’s bout, but said we shouldn’t have expected any other outcome than a draw. O’Neill also talked about the Blue Jays plan to implode Rogers Centre but said it likely won’t happen for many years. He feels it was sent up as a trial balloon more than anything else. RP said he can’t imagine the Toronto skyline without Rogers Centre. Bubba also talked about the resurgent Buffalo Bills and said they’ve invigorated football fans in the Golden Horseshoe. O’Neill also congratulated the boys on the RP Show’s success and said many of his friends are daily viewers in the 905!
  • RP and Dupes Faced Off on the Tyson/Jones Jr. fight over whether or not they’d shell out money for the PPV of a rematch. Rod said he would, but Darren would not. The Face Off segment is presented by Ultimate Fan Zone and The Mad Greek Restaurant.
