Nik Lewis previews an exciting CFL weekend

The CFL playoffs are almost here, and that means a ton of important CFL games down the stretch with huge postseason implications.

On Friday’s The Rod Pedersen Show, Hall of Fame inductee Nik Lewis joined us live in the studio to preview the biggest games this weekend.

Friday Night Football kicks off with The Hamilton Tiger Cats visiting the Toronto Argonauts at BMO Field.  It’s a battle for first in the east, and a game even Rod Pedersen can’t wait for.

“I’m excited for this game and I shouldn’t even care. It’s Hamilton and Toronto,” said Pedersen. “This is an east final preview.”

The Argos have not lost at home this season and will need every bit of home field advantage they can get to beat the Tiger Cats tonight.

“Toronto has all this talent, and they have been flirting with the ability to actually turn it on and show they are the best team in the east,” said Lewis. “Some weeks they don’t look like it depending on who they play. So, we are going to be able to see if that stands true.”

After fans are treated to a great game in Toronto, the BC Lions host the Calgary Stampeders in Vancouver. While both teams have not been as strong this season as fans have come to expect, there’s a lot more to this game than meets the eye.

“It’s going to be really interesting to see how BC plays Calgary,” said Lewis.

“Calgary has Winnipeg next week and BC has Edmonton. So, if BC wins this game, there is a chance Calgary won’t be in the playoffs. I know if Winnipeg has a chance to get Calgary out of the playoffs, they are probably going to take it.”

On Saturday afternoon, the CFL double header begins with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers against the Montreal Alouettes. While the Blue Bombers have clinched first in the west, and have named backup quarterback Sean McGuire the starter, Montreal is trying to hit their stride with Vernon Adams Jr. out for the rest of the season. And defeating the best team in the league is a great way to build some momentum into the playoffs.

Finally, the weekend concludes with a rematch between the Saskatchewan Roughriders and the Edmonton Elks at Mosaic Field. If Saskatchewan wins, they will secure a home playoff game and the whole league knows what it’s like to play at Mosaic…

It will be a big weekend of football for the CFL, and one that will have major playoff implications moving forward, and we can’t wait.

3DOWNNATION should legally change its name to The Cody Fajardo/Craig Dickenson/Saskatchewan Roughriders Daily Complainer. Someone over on that channel called A.C. Leonard nauseating.

I sure hope to hell that someone immediately notifies the Edmonton Elks along with the Calgary Stampeders that those Low-Brow Hick Saskatchewan Roughriders are already selling home playoff tickets to a CFL game they haven’t locked up. Must of arranged a pre victory ahead of game time via Ambrosie.

The BC LIONS still have a very good chance of meeting the Saskatchewan Roughriders in the 2021 CFL playoffs.
